The way I think about it, we want to make sure we get actual launch-like conditions for the upcoming stress test so we can be assured of a smooth launch. What better way to ensure large scale participation than tying name reservations to stress test participation?
Also people seeing huge numbers during the stress test would get people mega pumped and talking to massively build up hype for the actual launch.
Just think about all the hype a 8k pop stress test would generate a week before launch. It’d make people foamy with anticipation just hearing about it!
I will pick up this idea and discuss it with the staff and see if there is any reason why not. The only potential “problem” I see, is the limitation of names. There is no final decision yet how many names will be allowed to be reserved. If it is going to be limited to one name, it could be tricky if people would like to switch between faction during the stress test.
